Why do evolutionists believe that we are related to all living things on earth?

My family tree doesn't consists of bacteria and mushrooms and irises, raccoons and dogs, grass and oak trees and eagles.

Here's how I see it (I'm not an evolutionist per se)...We aren't necessarily related to everything on earth, but we are connected in many ways because we are very much a part of nature. At our basic core we are animals ourselves, and we have DNA just like every other species (both plant and animal).
