If a real time machine was made, or available to regular civilians would you travel through your past or future.

I'd say I'd travel to the future. Imo, you can't change the past. If time travel did exist, and I traveled in the past and changed something, I feel the "ripple effect" would happen and cause something else that ultimately would lead to the same thing but in a different way. I'm just curious to see what the future is like. I don't mean in a Sci Fi, Star Trecky type of vibe but more along the lines of knowing where I'd be in the future. What would you do? Past or future?
