Maybe I should go
Everyone around me always seems to want space, so maybe I'll give them as much as possible. Although it might not be 'space' so much as 'scorched earth'.

hiking across scorched earth to visit a friend sounds like an adventure to me!
I get it though. Some people in life need lots of space and you want to be respectful and give them that space. But it sucks when you want to hang out. I'd suggest finding some extroverted friends because they rarely want time or space. They'll pull you along with them.
