Wouldn't one of the biggest hurdles concerning light travel speed
Be the fact that if you were to run into a single speck of dust in space after going that speed, You would be instantly killed?

When you reach the speed of light, everything physical in nature transforms into energy. So you'd be literally dead. If 'you' then collided with a dust particle, energy would be transferred and the particle could vaporise.
