You posted something about this a week or so ago, and cited the UK Government's document itself.
I read it. Did you?
If you did you'd know that what you quote above is NOT that document but part of some unknown American* writer's twist on it.
You'd know that -
- In no way does it propose anything.
- In no way is it a Governmental "White Paper".
You might also know that the UK's Ministry of Defence does not run the United Kingdom.
Those quotes in that coloured panel are selected fragments of a long study of might become or already is possible technically far beyond the defence world. Roughly half of the paper goes further by examining and warning of the legal, moral ethical problems such developments could raise.
It also points out that "augmentation" means only artificial aids, something humans have been using down the ages.
What shows this study is NOT part of some secret programme to "augment" everyone or create some sort of bionic supermen, as you want to think it, is that:
1) It is published openly on the UK Government's web-site;
- and
2) It devotes so many pages to the moral and legal questions.
So by all means discuss the topics the study genuinely covers, but please do not try to present it as German or British governmental policy, as appears intended by some anonymous anti-German, anti-British foreign writer's lazily or wilfuly selective opinion-piece.
Please do not try to help create yet another conspiracy-fantasy!

*American writer?
American spellings! Though I admit it may be from some third-party who either learnt "English" from Americans, or wanted it to look American.

@WalterF Well, I do not take attacks like those as fair criticism either, and using his parents' problems as excuses would be low indeed.
If someone is peddling false remedies, for example, then expose his fraud; but at least do so in a proper manner.
You fear Governmental powers and controls, and I agree we must hold governments to account whether their wrong actions or failures are deliberate or by mistake.
I fear the Internet more though, as potentially becoming as destructive and despotic as any tacky national dictator.

No!!! People need to open their eyes, life is not what it seems, so many lies.
Is anything real? Is there even a war going on? It’s all to control us for this to come into place. It’s so messed up. I see so many fake stories and photos, videos.
People won’t listen, I get mocked for it.

It will create a new caste system, those who are augmented and those who are not. It will be based on genetic manipulation, first it will start with women being artificially inseminated by selecting the best of available eggs based on their genetic profile. Eventually as we learn more the eggs will be altered and we will have two people, those who can afford it and those who can not. The former will be taller, olive skinned, smarter and better looking. The latter will clean the bathrooms and work in kitchens and such.

@Subsumedpat It will not! That misundertands it.
The document is the report a joint German/British study on the likely physical, moral, legal and ethical effects of existing and possible medical and non-medical developments; with particular but not specifically military implications.
It is NOT, I repeat NOT, a proposal for any sort of Government programme that the quote the OP shows us seems to imply!
Find and read the whole thing - on the UK Gov. web-site. Not bits selected for scare-mongering by some anonymous but apparently American, anti-British blogger or other.

@ArishMell I am just talking about what is going to happen to change humanity not it being part of any sort of program, it has already started.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Subsumedpat I see what you mean, but if anything changes humanity it is humanity as a whole.
It's been changing or indeed "augmenting" itself in various ways since time immemorial, but the rate of change and the pressures against us are vastly greater now than even 100 years ago.
Perhaps the question is less what might come about physically, but whether we will end up changing more rapidly and more unevenly than we can handle. The study document was about the ethics etc., and of course once something has been invented it cannot be "un-invented", for good or bad.
Whatever may be facing humanity or how humanity changes itself within the next 80 years, even the next 40, raises questions we all need consider very deeply and seriously.
