Did you know that Nintendo was about ready to throw in the towel at one point?

Back in 2004, sales of the Nintendo GameCube were so poor, that the company was thinking about possibly exiting the home console market. Then came the Wii a couple of years later, which was a huge success.

@DeluxedEdition Apparently there are a bunch of reasons. One was because the GameCube's games were too "kid friendly" compared to the PS2 and the original Xbox. Another reason was a lack of third-party support, meaning that they were unable to get much help from other companies besides themselves to develop titles.
