Many years ago yes. It was common then. Changed a bit since.

It certainly has changed a lot and not necessarily for the good either ! The wood paddle sure kept us behaving and our full attention .

@pcasper59 I think the other thing you haven't mentioned is the respect we had for the teachers as well which came via discipline

@barney1 Yes we certainly did have respect for the Teachers and the School back then . We learned how to be held accountable when misbehaving; even if it meant bending over for the paddle.
