The Headmistress’ Office 2

When I was at primary school we had a very nice old gentleman who used to teach us music. Now I was very good at music and played well and being a real show off, I wanted to make the point. I think he appreciated my enthusiasm, but he didn’t like my cheekiness and one day I really went too far. He wrote a note and told me to take it to the headmistress.
On the way, I opened the note (which I wasn’t supposed to do, of course) and read it: “Maureen has been very cheeky to me. Would you please deal with her.” That did not encourage me on my way, as I could guess what the headmistress ‘dealing’ with me would be!
I tapped on the door in fear and trembling, and was admitted. The headmistress read the note and told me to go and stand in the corner with my nose to the wall and she would ‘deal’ with me when she had finished what she was doing.
After what seemed like ages, but was probably only a few minutes, she called me over to him and I was very soundly told off and even more soundly ‘dealt’ with in the fashion of the day. I was also told to apologise to the old gentleman concerned, which I did. He was very gracious about it, and was very sorry to have had to do what he did but he hoped I had learned a lesson.
Oh yes, I had learned a lesson, but whether I had learned it well enough remained to be seen!

My first school used a mini cricket bat,not a slipper.

Did the dealing with involve hand or slipper, if it's not too indelicate to ask?

@TheThinker Left the premises to go to a sweet shop at break time. The first couple of times I only got the slipper.

@Sharon Ah yes, that was it! I didn't previously know/remember it was a repeat offence though, no wonder they wanted to make an impression on you!

Were you surprised when they announced / brought out the cane rather than the slipper?
Sharon · F
@TheThinker Not overly surprised. I knew repeat offenders were liable to get the cane.
