but seriously what would it take for you to become a teacher?
For me I guess I would do it if at the bare minimum this was a 100,000 dollar per year position, and this is very reasonable considering what that job is!
I would not accept less than that and if they wanted me to quit being an engineer and become a teacher it would be quite a bit more even still.
So I don't know wtf they are complaining about not having enough teachers for. It isn't a day care or it isn't supposed to be. Teaching isn't something just anyone can do. People who can do it are highly skilled! So why would they accept Panda Express wages?
I had another idea. I think the biggest issue I have with being a teacher is that kids suck. They are going to misbehave and I can't even slap them in the face or tie them down to the chair and tell them to shut the fuck up. So maybe I would have been a teacher and get paid less if they had a literal security guard in every room or they gave me authorization with paid legal to be as ruthless as I have to be to force them to listen.
On a higher level the real issue is just that we keep passing kids out of preK to grade 12 even though they shouldn't be allowed to. I am pretty sure if we just started failing middle schoolers for their grades or behavior then kids would immediately start paying attention and if they didn't then they would no longer be around for the next year to be a problem for teachers. This is the real answer but parents would get mad at this so here we are where we are.
I am pretty sure in China if you misbehave or have bad grades even if you are in 1st grade they just flunk your stupid ass out of school and that is why they are becoming so competitive with the US.
