its the name we gave in the more modern time (i think victorean era) to the groups from Scandinavia and other norse places that were raiders/warrior/explorers!

erm. the mascot. annd usually theres some kinda connections to local history, although not alway. id define a viking as a pre modern seafaring raider. the fought in and around most of the modern western world, putting settlements all over.
