i expected this to happen

So a few weeks ago my brother in law gave into his daughter's mom and placed their daughter in a public prek program. He had a meeting with the teacher last week because no surprise his daughter who has been in school since she was 2 is used to more structured classroom setting of our school gets bored and acts out when expected to play and color all day. She also is academically ahead of her classmates ready to read while they are still trying to tell the difference between b and d. I expected this because though i have taught only at our school I did my student teaching in a public school setting. He and I both tried to tell her mom that as well. I have a feeling that after Christmas my niece is going to be back at the church school I just hope she doesnt fall to far behind
It is a tough question. I had a similar experience and after one day of kindergarten, I was put in a private school 1st grade that did not care that I was only FOUR!

It affected me all the rest of my life. Think long and hard about skipping her totally ahead.

Maybe there is some way she could stay with her peers but read on a higher level? Bored kids get in trouble or as some would say, An idle mind is the Devil's Workshop! An advanced reader, if she wants one, should be compatible with helping other kids to tell D's from B's -- which by the way is easier when capital letters are used. A good teacher might let her help other kids read.

I never thought about this before. Do kids have more trouble when lower case letters are involved? Normal sentences contain both.
