I know it was supposed to be a kind gesture but this reminded me of the bane of my existence when I was in school

I want to add, I did have friends. It’s just in high school, I took a lot of advanced placement classes and electives that involved legal classes. So my schedule usually didn’t align up well with my friends and I ended up in the lunch period with people I didn’t know usually (very large school, so big the high school had to be split into 2 different locations. We had 6 different lunch periods).

I usually spent this time eating (of course), doing that nights homework, or reading manga. Lunch was 30 minutes.

I did not want or need randoms trying to sit with me because they thought I was lonely 😭 some people just like being alone!
