Got thoughts on public education?

I work in the system as a substitute teacher, for two counties in the state of Florida. (Which has some of the best public schools in the country.)

@teachmetiger210503 In the real world, the kids do not want to be at school. They would rather be home playing video games all day long. Education is not something you bestow on a minor based on that minor's OPINION of it. Same thing with getting a kid to eat spinach over donuts all day long. NOTHING in the system is going to make a regular child hunger or thirst for book learning. But that doesn't diminish the importance of an educated populace. Just look at the idiot voters in blue states if you want to see where the system has failed. Teachers have a tough job because they're up against lazy parents (a lot of which use public schools as a taxpayer financed free daycare center) and up against kids who do not want to be there. EVERY teacher understands this. Every sub does too. It's that part of the job.
