Got thoughts on public education?

I work in the system as a substitute teacher, for two counties in the state of Florida. (Which has some of the best public schools in the country.)

Florida public schools aren’t good. Depending on the source, they’re actually closer to the worst.

Wallet Hub used 33 metrics to judge public schools, including: graduation rate among low income students, math and reading scores, median ACT and SAT scores, pupil-teacher ratios, bullying incident rates, etc.

Florida came in 42nd out of 50. On average, the Northeast crushed other regions of the country.

Even in the Northeast, private education is much better than public. The only issue is affordability.

@Adogslife Of course the underachieving Northeast will say a lie like that. Uh, you mean like the northeast where NEW YORK CITY students cannot attend school because all that space is being used for housing illegal alien animals?

Florida used to be in the low forties, back when Democrats controlled the Governor's office. The first Republican govern in a long while (Jeb Bush) signed a reform bill that moved Florida to the top of the ratings in the country. Education has only been improving here. The evidence, is in our elected officials. Look at the gomers the MORONS from New York keep electing, versus our brilliant statesmen down here.

You might want to take those bogus lies masquerading as education specs and pretend you are a proctologist.

@Reason10 Source?

@Adogslife Probably the same location as YOUR source.
I tend to look at the results of a state's election and the shithole that state is turning into.
New York has been and will continue to be an unquestioned shithole.
I'm sure you've read where New York City children are being turned away from schools because illegal alien animals are LEGALLY being put there, mostly because the inferior educational system of New York made that place a SANCTUARY CITY.
Florida on the other hand, elected a brilliant governor who flew those animals out of here and stuck them in Martha's Vineyard, just so we could watch the local racists (like the Obamas) go ballistic.

@Reason10 I’m curious, why do you keep bringing up NY? I’m not from there. I grew up in CT and work now in MA/ Boston. Both places have much better education systems.

Plus, I’m a Republican, just not the far right book banning type. I’m not a fan of the party’s religious zealotry either, including their stance on abortion. I am a big advocate for women’s rights and education. That’s the only reason I even responded to this post.

Comparatively, a Florida education is laughably worse than one from almost any of the New England states. You can add college educations too.

If you’re remotely unsure, just list the Ivy League schools in Florida.

@Adogslife Far right book banning type? Excuse me, but CALIFAGULA is the place there books have actually been banned, including "To Kill A Mockingbird" "Of Mice And Men," and "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn." No school district in Florida has banned any books and neither has the Florida legislature. Of course, at the county level, some parents have removed gay porn books from elementary school libraries. If you have a problem with that, you shouldn't be allowed never public schools.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
@Reason10 Of course, gay porn. Like “Lord of the Flies” and “A Brave New World”

Here’s a list of literally hundreds of books that Floridians apparently call gay porn then:

At this point, you should hit “DELETE” on your entire thread. Your facts are shit, much like DeSantis’ political hopes outside of Florida. It’s almost like this is one of those “Only in Florida” news stories where someone does something with jaw dropping stupidity.
