Got thoughts on public education?

I work in the system as a substitute teacher, for two counties in the state of Florida. (Which has some of the best public schools in the country.)

Public education is great. It’s better than the alternative- no education. As someone who grew up in poverty with a neglectful/abusive family, I probably would have been in a worse position if I had no education. I do wish schools gave options for different learning styles and how to cater better to people on the spectrum or disabilities (learning or physical).

@666Maggotz There is one county I work for in Florida (I'm not mentioning any actual locations because some message board trolls would show up at my place of work. They've done it in the past.) that has a very small percentage of it's high school student body that is homeless. And those schools have school breakfast and lunches year round, even during summer school. For some kids, the public school is the only food they will get. I know that' s not supposed to be the function of public schools, but one has to applaud that effort.
