Got thoughts on public education?

I work in the system as a substitute teacher, for two counties in the state of Florida. (Which has some of the best public schools in the country.)

Well, I send my kid to a Charter STEM school because I didn't think the local public school was offering challenging enough curriculum.

It's just as overcrowded as the local public and Spanish Immersion schools.

We as a society don't fund our public schools nearly enough and we'll all suffer for it in the long run.

@Starcrossed @Starcrossed If the school is working for your kid, congrats.
As far as funding public education, you have two obstacles involved. At the county level, (especially in either Florida retirement areas or very poor areas) you have residents who complain about high property taxes.
If you are thinking of more public school education at the federal level, remember that our government is FORTY TRILLION DOLLARS IN THE HOLE, and 75 percent of that budget is entitlements. Education from Washington is seven percent of all education funding.
