We were never given the choice, discipline was administered right in class with a wooden ruler or yardstick for small offences and then there was the HeadMaster's weekly "Punishment Parade" which was for more major offences and that was either the strap or the cane depending on the severity of your offence.

@sally1981 I probably would have done the same, except he was a Minister with a family and doubt he would have been interested, but who knows? I was already taking cocks by then too 🤪
