I was paddled up until the 7th grade, that's when I decided it wasn't going to happen any more. The teacher wanted to paddle me for being less than 30 seconds late to class. I told him it wasn't going to happen and he sent me to the principle, he wanted to paddle me and I told him the same thing, "not going to happen". Well then you will be suspended from school for 3 days he said. I took the 3 days. The first of several suspensions I would eventually take.

We didn't get the paddle here in the UK, we got the plimsol ("the slipper") or the cane. In Scotland and the North of England, the belt or tawse was quite common.
