Old school grading system

Did anyone else start school before the grading system went to A,B,C,D, and F.

My first couple of years in school the system was:

E = Excellent
G = Good
U = Unsatisfactory

I'm sure there were others. This was in the 1950's in CT
My elementary school used

S = 'S'atisfactory, with S+ and S- possible, and

U = 'U'nsatisfactory

I think that this was just for a few years (Kindergarten, 1st grade, maybe 2nd?), and I think that the Kindergarten categories were partly scoring kids on how well they were acclimating to school.

That was after your experience.

It was like that when I started school. Moved around to different states and it changed. I just thought they did it different in other states

@cherokeepatti I just remember that Connecticut switched. Actually, I just remember that my hometown switched. But I also never ran into the old grading system anywhere in or out of state.

@eli1601 probably came from the head people
