Grade School or College Counselor

Has anyone actually had a positive experience with a school counselor at any level? I didn't and now my students haven't either it makes me cynical of the overall role.

I had a counselor tell me that I shouldn't go to college. After I graduated and was a teacher; I had the chance of attending the same class, at the same time. that he was taking. 😊

Didn't really have a good experience with my High School Counsellor. I felt put down and worthless. That's just what happened to me though. Everyone is different I'm sure. :)
