I have walked on the Pennines many times, Malam Tarn, Ska Fell and the rest, and will never grow tired of the views.

@scalenemaia A long time ago sorry, but I have never classified the areas. Do you know of the "like wake walk", done at night toward Derbyshire? I am an old man now, with trouble walking, so I miss the days long gone by.
I now live in Poland, in the forest, so I miss the views like yours.

It is the "Lyke Wake Walk" which goes from Osmotherly (near Northallerton) to Ravenscar (north of Scarborough). You have 24 hours to walk 42 miles. I did it during my first year at Uni - raising money for a pregnancy helpline charity. We set off from Osmotherly when the pubs chucked us out and got to Ravenscar about 15 hours later. We caught the bus from there to Scarborough and had a couple of nights in a hotel to catch up with our sleep and recover... Five of us walked it, three girls and two guys. I was the only one used to walking, map reading and route finding so guess who got the be the boss? I used it for my Duke of Edinburgh's award Gold expedition practice which I did almost a year later. I was a bit disappointed when we received our awards (at Kensington palace) because we didn't get them from Phil the Greek but from Michael Palin! (Apparently they often asked celebrities and famous people to present them...) Enjoy the Polish countryside...

Thanks for the clarification honey, and well done!!
I used to take the young Duke of Edenborough's for their bronze walks in Leicestershire, two days walking and one night under canvas. We would walk through Bradgate Park at night, which was scary for the uninitiated, there was deer in the park and all you could see was their eyes.
I did the Lyke Wake Walk many years ago, as you say, after the pubs shut. I needed the inebriation to complete the walk, and become a "Durger", but my brother did it there and back to become a "Master Durger". Is that still going? You can see from my inaccuracies how long ago it was.
Those days are far behind me now, I was once a talented sportsman, now I have trouble walking to the shop.
I live in the forest, in a small village, probably 10 cars a day pass by. It is a peaceful existence, a drive into town once a week for groceries, and an occasional drive out into the country.
Thanks for the reminders of my youth, and enjoy the English summer.☺️
