What are the benefits of cooldown walks after running/jogging?

I was told by someone I should do cooldown walks after jogging. How does this help? After jogging, I'm already tired.

It helps your body recover gradually. It also helps the lactate diminish. That will happen anyway but it's quicker with a cool down. You can stop right after but a lot of times you feel like shit. Gradually lowering your rate is the better call. The longer and harder your run then the cool down is usually longer as well.
