Why don't french , british and american museums return the stolen things ?

If they are really friendly people , why don't they return the stolen materials they stole from other countries ?
Although they cannot return the stolen lives of people their swords and bombs have killed ,
nor are they going to return much of stolen land (North America , Australia , New Zealand , French reuinion islands , and hundreds of other islands , South Africa) , at least they should return the materials that shine in lights of their museums ?

Or they will keep playing the divide and rule policy always ? which makes africans fight each other , south americans fight each other , arabs fight each other , and others ,
and continue the loot of other things ?

One argument is that if the artefacts are returned they'll be looted and sold or destroyed. They don't trust the original nations to have the proper internal controls to assure the safety of the pieces and so their argument it's better in their hands where security is too notch and there is respect for the artefacts.

Sounds very condescending which it is, but until some international agreement is made there's not much that can be done, especially since FR, UK and the USA have veto power in what ever body their in

@Longpatrol It is not required if the thief "respect" the things , let them be broken or lost in home country , they shall have their ending in the home as well .

They were not artefacts originally , but property of people , they became artefacts in the museums of the thieves .

Let the home people respect or disrespect , it is their choice ,
because it is their thing ,
not of the thieves who decorate their museums with them .
