I watched 2 turkeys mating in my backyard this morning

It was interesting. But it wasn't pretty.
The male stands on the female's back for an extended period of time before they actually do it.

I always wonder how these things get started.
Like who were the first turkeys who did this and said " hey guys, you gotta try it this way it's great"
