To stop hearing about Valentine’s Day.

And yes, I’m a crabby old person. 😒

@OlderSometimesWiser It don't matter. As soon as this is over, we will have to hear about st patricks day where every american suddenly thinks they are irish.

WHY that happens, no one knows. I do not like that day because my mom used to make corn beef and cabbage for dinner, which is GROADY.
@Punches Lol .. I've not heard "groady" since about 1985. ;-)

@BrandNewMan I am still stuck on 80's slang. Heck I still say, "UUUHHH you got joaned on!"
SarahAndSamantha · 51-55, T
@Punches I gotta ask. Was 'scud' nationwide in the 80s or just in my area?
@SarahAndSamantha Certainly in regard to scud missles
SarahAndSamantha · 51-55, T
@BrandNewMan different type of scud lol. we kinda laughed every time we heard about the missiles though
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@Punches Disagree. Corned beef and cabbage is the bestest New England style.
Punches · 46-50, F
@SarahAndSamantha Oh yeah, scud missile was a daily household buzz word for a while.

@Gibbon I never really did care for it. Maybe some recipes are good but at our house it just wasn't.
SarahAndSamantha · 51-55, T
@Punches nah, this was slang before the Scud missiles. Derogatory term for metalheads and stoner types
Punches · 46-50, F
@SarahAndSamantha Well THAT form of scud - I never heard before.

I think back then, slang was more regional, I do not know about today with the web if specific slang is universal.
SarahAndSamantha · 51-55, T
@Punches I'm curious if it was extremely specific to my town. I never heard it before I moved here, and I only moved from 30 miles away lol
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@Punches TEHO
Punches · 46-50, F
@SarahAndSamantha Where I was, they were often called stoners, hoods, or burn-outs.

I mean "scud" does have a ring about it that could mean what you said.
SarahAndSamantha · 51-55, T
@Punches we used those too, but there was something visceral about scud. Always said with the uhhhh sound drawn out. Scuhhhhhhhhd. lol
Punches · 46-50, F
@SarahAndSamantha Yeah I can see how that would work. Not just what one says but how they say it.

We didn't have too many in my HS. It was some suburban town HS with a ton of preps.
SarahAndSamantha · 51-55, T
@Punches we were overrun with preps. I preferred the scuds. They were the cool kids, really. Scud was a mostly prep word for those 'lower' than them, not just the metalheads etc. We wore it with pride :P
Punches · 46-50, F
@SarahAndSamantha We lived in suburbia when I was in HS. So yeah, many preps.

Funny thing is, a lot of them are now a huge wreck. 😁
