Is why do men look for sexual gratification outside of their primary relationship genetic?

Historically we came from a tribal culture of numerous women per male as hunting was so dangerous the balance of males to females would have been lopsided. Then there is the need of men every three days but for women it's a few days per lunar cycle so a ratio of 2 - 4 females per male was not unlikely and there is genetic evidence that 8000 years ago it was more like 10-17 females per male.
It's only been in the last few hundred years that monogamy has become the law.

Gene from unique males on the left, unique females on the right.

Looks like an attempt to justify infidelity 🤷‍♂️
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@ErecSchunn Perhaps..but are infidelity; as well as marriage, just constructs? It would appear that humans are not designed for monogamy. Otherwise why would females have multiplse orgasms while men just fall asleep? Meanwhile, we now appear to be falling towards no marriages and very few children. As religion looses its' grip, reality steps in like a three year old to ask "why?".

Seems like the guy spent all this time on his study because he wasn't getting laid.

@Pinkstarburst you mean the last 14 years...but who's counting. ;)

What the heck happened 8000 years ago?!

Thinking a bit more about it, this would be about the time that Agriculture was invented and people needed land and started fighting over resources in the name of their newly invented religions instead of sharing. It must have been a Tolkien type if existance with massive armies of men slicing each other to shreds with blades of copper and bronze. Females were enslaved and males were eliminated regardless of age. In the end, the only winners were the flies.

I believe monogamy leads to a stifled relationship and slow burning resentment.
Humankind did many things traditionally that they no longer do, so unless we’re going to toss the concept of choice out and claim that we act on instinct, that’s just an excuse for choosing not to exercise self control.
@Tastyfrzz It is, but it’s a choice factor, too. Education would imply that people don’t know any better. But if two people make the commitment to be monogamous and someone cheats, they know what they’re doing. They’re just choosing not to keep their promise.

@bijouxbroussard OK, Lets say they know it's wrong then that would imply a lack of caring, cowardliness, and/or that something in the relationship is unsatisfying. An imbalance. So, not genetic, not instinct, but insanity?
@Tastyfrzz More like selfishness, which is very human.
