I have a "love of my life" that's in prison for 10 more years

I love his heart and soul. But I've been keeping my options open. My family would never want me to be with this guy. I met a guy last week and we hung out one night. It was nice, went on a dock on the lake and just sit in a boat and talked all night. He seems really excited about me. I don't know what to do because this guy is really sweet and nice.

Keep weighing your options,no need to rush, and be glad you have the liberty to make a choice.
If your heart-throb is doing another decade flat then there are many, many things which could happen to knock things off-kilter with you two and I hope that you realize that before committing too much of an emotional investment. I also hope you two have open and honest lines of communication.
In my experience this is not always the case with inmates, they can be very skilled at playing various levels of games. Keep in mind that he's doing the time because of his choices, but you're not. Good luck.
