I have a "love of my life" that's in prison for 10 more years

I love his heart and soul. But I've been keeping my options open. My family would never want me to be with this guy. I met a guy last week and we hung out one night. It was nice, went on a dock on the lake and just sit in a boat and talked all night. He seems really excited about me. I don't know what to do because this guy is really sweet and nice.

Those prison relationships don’t seem to have much of a shelf life once the person gets out. Easy for them to be loving when inside, you’ve got yourself a captive audience. Back out in the world, it’s often a very different story.

@swandfriends Keep in mind they also have lots of time to focus affection on you,but as was mentioned above, not so much when dealing with parole, job seeking and the other whirlwind of chores we face in this world. He will also be shocked at how much the world has changed since he went away. It's not an easy transition from the prison routine. Continue to offer support if you truly care about him, because that can really mean a lot when yer locked up,but be clear that your wellbeing and happiness is a priority.
