@Juvia A surprising number of Spanish (from Spain) are blond, although if you Google even "blond" masculin Spaniards you’ll get a lot of pictures of blonde Spanish women.

@DrWatson I suppose that’s possible; back in school we were taught that the Moors were Arab. It wasn’t until much later that the Moors were seen by some as black (in that context).

@bijouxbroussard that's pretty interesting. Alot of the moors were what Americans would consider black because they were mixed of Mediterranean and SSA DNA to a certain degree. Some were even from Senegal but most were what north Africans are now. I read it was basically to whiten out history which is why they claim the moors were just arabs.

I read somewhere that southern Italians weren't considered white in the USA. That kind of idea is basically what's going on in Europe now from I see. The P.I.G.S (Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain) aren't considered white by the other parts of Europe. It's genuinely a mind twist because they are all white to me.

@bijouxbroussard I always thought of the Moors as Arab (or Arab-related.) At any rate, I think the greater source of confusion with this conversation is with the word Spanish. At one time, people in the US were using the term as synonymous with Latino, but as you say, Spaniards from Spain have a whole different ethnic history, which does not include the native peoples of South America and Mexico.
