I love snakes, and not just in photos.

@Mamapolo2016 I think I have a legitimate hereditary adjacent phobia. I was the youngest of three children 1, 3,5. The rest came later.
We were sitting on the porch swing with Mom in a lawn chair nearby. We were eating ice cream cones. The porch was just a concrete slab. We all looked around when Mom let out a scream. I was told it was a copperhead that slithered past all of us and in through the not -quite-closed screen door.
My dad, part preacher, part carpenter/brick-layer, was helping a neighbor down the road put down a sidewalk and looked up when my mom, dragging two small sons and carrying me, screaming SNAKE SNAKE, raced up to him sobbing convulsively. They had a consultation.
The result was four other country men in bib overalls plus dad and mom left us, the kids, on the snake-free porch of a neighbor, while they went back to our house to search for a copperhead.
They carried the furniture out in the yard, removed bedding and slipcovers, emptied every closet, cupboard and drawer, shook out every pair of footie pj’s - but they never found the snake.
The next year or so Mom sent Dad into the house for a thorough search.
That’s how we grew up snake-phobic.

@Mamapolo2016 When I said I loved snakes, I didn't have copperheads in mind!
There are snakes, and there are snakes!

@DrWatson It may have been a kind copperhead with no ill intentions. But Mom was not prepared to give it the benefit of the doubt.

Amazing colors and design! If I ever saw one in person I would freak out

They are indeed living works of art, but like you I prefer to appreciate them in photographs. 😌
Mamapolo2016 · F
@bijouxbroussard Yes I figure they feel the same.

So pretty to look at…
Mamapolo2016 · F
@CookieCrumbs Is that still a signature sign in stores that sell fragile things?
“pretty to look at, lovely to hold, but If you break it, consider it sold!”

Yes! I still see that sign in stores. They should be clearer: "If you break it, you have to PAY for it."

@CookieCrumbs Finishing with, “YES. This means you!0

The ones in the photo are from California, which makes perfect sense. You can’t show up on a red carpet in just any old thing.

Beautiful colours... Being non venomous you would imagine they work try to hide
Mamapolo2016 · F
@Convivial I would think that. Maybe they did try to hide, but you know how the paparazzi are.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@Mamapolo2016 so true... Maybe they just taste terrible and that's their branding
Mamapolo2016 · F
@Convivial They can rest peacefully knowing I will never test that.
