A prayer for the night to come
O God, source of all peace, we turn to you in this time of conflict and war. We pray for an end to violence and suffering, for the safety of all those affected by war, and for the restoration of peace and justice. We pray for all those in positions of power and authority. Grant them wisdom, compassion, and courage to seek peaceful solutions and to work towards a world where justice and reconciliation prevail. May they be guided by your love and your desire for peace, rather than by hatred or fear.
Father of mercies and God of all comfort, look with pity on all who are suffering during this time of strife and warfare. Protect the defenseless, heal the wounded, and sustain the homeless and hungry. Turn the hearts of our enemies, and forgive both them and us for our share in the sin that has brought this anguish on humanity. Open to us a way of reconciliation, and lead us to the path of peace; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
O God, where there is hatred, let us bring love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is discord, union. Where there is error, truth. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. Where there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
