What Is Praying In The Spirit?

This is a subject that's been debated in the church for a while now. I didn't understand it myself till I saw it written in the Bible. Some say it's deep prayer while some say it's speaking in other tongues. This is what the Bible says.

[c=7700B2]1 Corinthians 14:15 (KJV) What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.[/c]

The Bible says praying in the spirit is praying in other tongues.

What is the surrounding context of the scripture you gave? How about, speaking in tongues is pointless without a translator? Any footnotes, cross references? Will speaking in tongues, prophecy, healing end? If so, when?

Might help to compare translations, if you haven't already. Use the url below.

@BibleData 1 Corinthians 14 mainly talks about speaking in tongues. Speaking in tongues is only pointless when you're around other believers because only you benefit from it. Jude 1:20 tells us it edifies when you speak in other tongues. The apostle Paul does advice us to pray that we may interpret so the church may benefit.
