Silly me, I thought it was the Romans who were persecuting Jesus, his disciples, and his Christian followers in general!

Or are you saying Arabs and Jews were in charge of the Ancient Roman Empire? That's news to me too! Where do you learn this stuff??

@ElwoodBlues romans were not responsible since all the jews wanted jesus killed...the romans cleansed wash thier hand saying they are not to be blamed....it was the jews who swear by thier coming generation...saying that they wanted to crucify jesus.
@Lionehaza Nice try. The Romans persecuted the Jews too. Rome said you could worship whatever you wanted as long as you ALSO worshiped the Roman pantheon. Judaism says to only believe in and worship only one God - it's right there at the top of the Ten Commandments - Mosaic law is the heritage of Jews And Christians.

Sure, the Romans got a few highly placed Jewish people to agree with criminalizing Jesus, but that doesn't indict every Jewish person in antiquity; during his lifetime, Jesus was only known locally, and Judea was only around 70,000 people.

@ElwoodBlues Matthew 27:24–25
24So when Pilate saw that he could do nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took some water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man’s blood; see to it yourselves.” 25Then the people as a whole answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!”

If I remember my Bible correctly (Mathey 27:24-25), and it has been decades since I read it, Pilate was only telling "The Jews" that Christ had committed no actual crime or crimes against the people, the Government, or that society in general. Christ had not committed any crime warranting punishment. He most likely saw in their eyes, and heard in their voices the "cry for blood," and Pilot knew what they were going to do to Christ, so he "washed" his hands of the whole situation.
