Religion is a coping mechanism for people too afraid to take the world at face value

We live on a rotating rock in space that so happened to be the correct distance from the energy of the sun for molecular chemical reactions to take place amongst atoms, hydrogen, oxygen and sub atomic particles to create single celled organisms that slowly evolved over billions of years.

There is no god. There is no heaven. There is no hell. There is no devil. Your prayers are heard by nobody. There is no supreme cosmic being in the sky or in space watching over you.

You can’t remember anything before you were born because you didn’t exist yet. When we die, we go back to that state of nothingness.

Life is a tiny experience that is simultaneously unique in everyone and yet completely insignificant at the same time.
Have long suspected as you do that it's a defense mechanism.

@SomeMichGuy You’ve made it quite clear that you do not hold me in high esteem. To what worth would my cordiality or friendliness hold to you?
@QueenOfZaun ? No, it's some of your opinions which I don't hold in high esteem.

I have no idea of who you really are, and no notion of what level of esteem should be assigned you.

Again, which part(s) were sarcastic?

I don’t disagree with you but does the purpose of all of it have some explanation?
QueenOfZaun · 26-30, F
@StevetheSleeve Perhaps purpose is only a human concept. Born out of our higher levels of cognition. Animals operate on instinct. Humans operate on whatever purpose they invent for themselves or others.

@QueenOfZaun I can see that too, but does existence have meaning to somebody or some thing

Why do you choose to believe that when we die we no longer exists? It is not something that you know. It is only something that you believe. So why would you want to believe that we no longer exist when we die?

I think that religion is a coping mechanism to deal with the unknowns of life. I agree with most support you stated except about living only one life.
Moneyonmymind · 31-35, M
Makes sense but I’m wondering what made you post this?
QueenOfZaun · 26-30, F
@Moneyonmymind Thinking about the brutality of the world and how the human mind desperately tries to change it into something it’s not.
