I find churches helpful to pray in, especially old ones. Knowing that these have been the focus of Christian prayer for hundreds of years. And Christians meet there weekly, to praise and thank God. You cannot be a Christian in isolation, you need to be part of a community, however loosely.
But you can pray anywhere, any time. You don’t need a church to pray in, or to have a relationship with God.

@Serkan Many years ago when my mother was dieing, I tried to pray in a local Quaker peace garden. But they did not want me there. They said I should pray in the hospital chapel. I could not think of anywhere worse. So I prayed in the cathedral, an impersonal place, I found solace there.
