Christians and the church

I hate the church and after watching Bride and Prejudice I remember one of the reasons I walked away from the church so many years ago . They are a bunch of holier than thou hippacrittes . It breaks up families , causes ill feeling and wars . A god who can judge and send people to hell for being different is not the god I want anything to do with . Love should be unconditional and not judge . Love comes above all else . My love for my kids is unconditional and non judgemental as it should be for any parent . If I had my way I would blow up every church and preacher of any faith for spewing hate and prejudice .

The Christianity we are familiar with is all about controlling people through guilt and fear.
Rhode57 · 56-60, M
@Crazywaterspring Exactly they spew hate and judgement they are vile .
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
@Rhode57 That is why the Pagan and atheist paths are growing. Christianity must recruit (evangelize) to replace people who leave.

@Rhode57 LOL.. my mom is a practicing Christian. And despite your categorization of her, she is in fact a loving forgiving and nice person. She simply worships in her own way and doesn't push her beliefs on anyone at all.

I don't feel threatened by any religion at all. I've read the bible and take from it what I feel is important. I can tell you this, I don't go around bashing people for the religion they choose to practice.

Maybe my simple view is a result of where I live, the United States. We have freedom of religion here and respecting another person's religious choices is not just a matter of respect for others, it's baked into our way of life. The same goes for freedom of speech. Not to say there aren't some people who share the radical view you do relative to blowing things up and hating someone because you think they hate others. Although.,.. that is a rather confusing and ridiculous statement don't you think?
carpediem · 61-69, M
@Rhode57 Sorry for you. I know plenty. But surely by your statements you are judging others you haven't even met. No offense, but the person I see causing ill feelings, judging others and essentially being a hypocrite here is you.

I suggest you calm down and don't judge 32% of the world's population because you feel someone insulted you by judging you. Relax.

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven

You sound like you really believe this . Sadly in the real world it is far from true , sorry to burst your bubble .
carpediem · 61-69, M
@Rhode57 I’m not a church goer. But I do make an attempt at applying some of the lessons in my life. My bubble is far from being burst. But it sure look like yours has been.

I feel bad for you being in a position to judge others as being such awful people. It sounds like someone hurt you and you aren’t man enough to get past it. Maybe therapy would help. Being so bitter is not a good way to spend your life.

Whatever. Be bitter. 🤷‍♂️ Each to his own

I thought you were talking about the governments lol 😂

You could probably also see it like this: an organisation which survived for almost 2000 years, despite all those crooks, mugs, grifters and idiots – such an organisation must be of divine origin! 😇

@helenS Sorry its rubbish the bible was written 300 years after the birth of christ and history has proved jesus the man wasnt even around when pontius pilot was alive . He wasnt a carpenter but a stone mason , he was never in jerusalem according to the census at the time . The parents were both at home during the census . So everything in the bible is bull . If you study the bible and study the history of the time nothing of the bible is true . Yes there was a flood at approximately the time stated in the bible caused by nature and nothing to do with a higher power . Adam and eve is rubbish and the earth was around long before the so called creation . The whole bible is a fairy story brought about by the church to control people .

This doesn't sound like the statement of a loving man. If you don't like church, don't go. 🤷‍♂️
Rhode57 · 56-60, M
@carpediem Its not that . I hate what the church stands for and is . Christians are meant to be all loving forgiving nice people but their not . Their do gooder bible bashing hippacrittes who seem to get off on criticising others and pretending that they are all hollier than thou which no one is . Pushing the bible into other peoples faces and telling people how they should live doesnt make you christian it makes you a hippacrite . NO ONE is perfect . How about a statement out of the bible ( Let him who is perfect cast the first stone ) The bible tells us no one has the right to judge but god however it doesnt seem to stop so called christians doing exactly that . Sorry their not christians their bible bashing hippacrittes .

First of all...
What do you understand by these two Concepts/words
"LOVE' and "UNCONDITIONAL"?
Rhode57 · 56-60, M
@SilentObZerver I am not getting into it with you end of .
SilentObZerver · 26-30, M
@Rhode57 your love for your kids you say is "unconditional"
But the question is would you have loved them if you weren't their parent?
Rhode57 · 56-60, M
@SilentObZerver Yes I love kids and hate the fact that alot of kids are scared of their parents . I have had first hand experience of this with boyfriends and girlfriends telling us they wished we were their parents as we were so cool and easy to talk to and approach .
Flossie · 36-40, F
I lost my whole family as i refused to be part of their christian cult.
Flossie · 36-40, F
@helenS yes they destroy l8ves and cause wars. Best to avoid.
helenS · 36-40, F
@Zeusdelight Thank you – I always thought Christians believe they are Christians as a grace of God, and that their religion is a gift from God? So: no-one is more evil than a person who knows the true religion, and rejects it.
This is from St. Peters 2nd epistle, on apostates (KJ version):
2,21: For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
2,22: But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@helenS Their religion isn't a gift from God. Their belief in God is the grace. Just because a person follows a religion does not mean they have that grace.
Tammylee14 · 22-25, F
Don’t judge God on how church people treat you , they are imperfect as is everyone but some can’t see that in themselves
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
The commercial Church is a natural destination for sociopaths, narcissists, and OCD people.

What will you do when a child of yours kills someone, maybe hurts another person out of hatred... steals something or lies?
I think all people need to judge right and wrong, good and bad.... unless anything goes and it's more of a hell for many right where we are.
