I Dont Go to Church

Over the past few years, I can assure you that I’ve lost all kinds of faith in te church. I don’t believe in anything they preach anymore, I guess I never have, but because of the pressure to please my family, I forced myself to attend Sunday mass, but I am done guiding my life the way others believe I should, I am done guiding my life the way a book written thousands of years ago tells me to do. From now on, it’s my life, and nobody else’s.
Don’t get me wrong, I believe in a higher being by all means, but I am no allowing someone’s religion and beliefs be pushed upon me any longer. I believe in god, but in my own way, in my heart.

@stained That's a very poor hypothesis grounded on nothing. We have the entire Bible that has proven to withstand the trial of time after nearly 3500 years. The prophets and kings spoken of can be proven that they did exist and spoke what was said.

What I am saying is that not all religions are correct, but religion is clearly the only possible way we have where we want to get closer to God in this physical world besides just a "feeling" that he's there.

@MartinTheFirst So your faith is in religion ,not God. Thinking like that is what is driving people away from religion in droves.For me that Feeling is faith and i believe i'm closer to God than you are.

@stained So you think one should just "hope" and "feel" that God is there? I believe we can expect a lot more from God, and [b]that[/b] is true reason to believe in him. What he has done for us and promised us (relayed to us in a message that comes with religion) is that reason.

@MartinTheFirst This is crazy!!! If i had jumped in here and said i don't believe in God you would argue to the death ,i'm saying i do believe and your reacting as if i said there is no God ! What difference does it make how i get there if i end up in the same place!I find this happens a lot with people who believe it's all about the bible and religion,my belief is pure and i came to it all on my own as God intended.You can't find God in a book written by men

@stained It seems like you are saying you believe in a relationship because YOU feel it and YOU plan to follow your own interests because that feels good and feels right and the person in the relationship with you should stand up and applaud you because you reached the conclusion there is a relationship. That seems pretty one-sided, ignores the basis for any "real" relationship, and focuses only on what is entirely convenient for you despite, like what Martin said, a 3500 year time-tested proven record.

It seems what you say you want and what you are doing to achieve what you claim you want are out of sync.
