gregloa It’s not the people themselves that are being hated, but the God in them being bashed because this is a God hating world. Jesus told us, “…because you are not of this world, they will hate you”.

If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. ***That is why the world hates you.
But… many, if not most want to blend in with the world and let their lights burn dim instead of testifying or witnessing to their faith built on Jesus Christ. It’s those that work in the field (trying to warn others or telling the good news of Christ) that suffer persecution and I’ll go a step further, they are also hatred as scripture states above. But those that don’t separate themselves from the evil of the world won’t feel much persecution. However those that live Godly (not perfect) will most certainly be rejected and sometimes despised as well as persecuted. It hurts to be rejected by people we care about but Jesus has to be first. He taught us the greatest commandments are to love God with all your heart, mind and soul and love your neighbor as yourself. He also told us that to forsake all (even family members) and follow him, and we’d be rewarded 100 fold in this life and the world to come.

Don’t mean to sound so negative but these are truly the words of the Living God. 🙂
When I see a professing Christian that this world loves, it tells me volumes.
PS I know you know these things but I post for maybe, perhaps someone might gain from them.
You are definitely right, “People don’t like to be convicted of their sins”.
