What is that? I'm Pentecostal.
PatientlyWaiting25 · 46-50, F
@Unefilletrescurieuse I'm in Britain, by American standards, it's a small independent church I go to with emphasis on a personal relationship with God and baptism with holy Spirit. I don't see wolves in sheeps clothing. I do believe that God might bless us with prosperity and I believe in tithing as an act of worship.
@PatientlyWaiting25

I’m so sorry that you misunderstood me.

I’m NOT calling Pentecostalism “wolves in sheep’s clothing”. I am calling “prosperity theology” wolves in sheep’s clothing. You asked the ‘author of question’ “what is that?” And then said you are Pentecostal.

Trust me darling, I am Pentecostal and believe in everything you listed above.

Maybe you need to watch more preachers on tv that are always on about all their material gain… multimillion dollar homes, jet planes, his and hers matching most expensive cars known to man, and etc…just to see what the author meant by prosperity theology. America is full of these people.
However author only got it half right. REAL PENTECOSTALS that are living true lives for Christ are not prosperity preachers!!!!

Here is my faith;

WE BELIEVE:
The Church of God believes the whole Bible to be completely and equally inspired and that it is the written Word of God. The Church of God has adopted the following Declaration of Faith as its standard and official expression of its doctrine.
\
In the verbal inspiration of the Bible
\
In one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
\
That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.
\
That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins.
\
That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
\
In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost.
\
Holiness to be God’s standard of living for His people.
\
In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart.
\
In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Ghost.
\
In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
\
Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.
\
In the Lord’s Supper and washing of the saints’ feet.
\
In the premillennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years.
\
In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.

We also tithe a tenth of income as taught in the Bible..

And as I have posted above, let the Bible speak for itself regarding prosperity theology:

1 Timothy 6:5 King James Version
“Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, ****supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.” ****

And just so I make it clear from the Bible:

1 Timothy 6:5
New International Version
5 and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and ****who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.*****

Now having said all that, yes, John told us:
3 John 2
King James Version
2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

But let me stand firm here and tell you the truth, Any Christian that preaches how to obtain wealth and they focus more on material wealth more than souls are indeed wolves in sheep’s clothing and we as Christians need to withdraw ourselves from them!
@PatientlyWaiting25

] PS… We have many genuine Pentecostals also, and I dare say probably way more than Britain in this USA. Just a suspicion but I wouldn’t know as I’ve never even been to Britain.…

Ive been among the real deal all of my adult life… In fact, quite a few! But unfortunately, the author of the post just painted all of us with the same brush… but he is wrong! Those prosperity preachers are stumbling blocks! But the real Church marches on! ❤

True Pentecostal Christians reject prosperity doctrine/theology
But while we’re on it let me share something with you:
1 Timothy 6:5 King James Version
“Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, ****supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.” ****[/c]

And just so I make it clear from the Bible:

1 Timothy 6:5
New International Version
5 and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and ****who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.*****

@Unefilletrescurieuse Hillsong is 100 PCT about evangelical prosperity
@mksworld I wouldn’t know anything about Hillsong. but I’m not surprised. Most TV evangelists are into that prosperity doctrine but the Bible speaks for itself and it says withdraw from them.
