Were you ever made to, or did you willing sign up to, a purity movement/program like SRT or TLW
I never really knew much about them until today, but wow what a wacky religious thing they are.
Reminds me of the evangelical christian concerts aka 'church gatherings' put on by pentecostal churches.
Silver Ring Thing (now called something else) and True Love Waits are the two main ones apparently, both emanating from the USA.
Basically, both get the young persons attending (presuming pushed into or 'escorted' by their die-hard religious parents) to make a 'pledge' that they won't have sex until they have had a full religious marriage and generally involves wearing a 'promise' ring.
I'm not religious anymore (since late teens when I for a while flirted with being a Baptist then rejected the hypocrisy), so I don't really know if purity pledging is a big thing here in Oz.
