No, the idea of God is ridiculous. It’s just Santa Claus for adults. Or just a father figure because you never grow up.
Lostpoet · M
@Ferise1 I have to disagree the books I've read, my own experiences. I'm almost certain there is a God.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@Lostpoet what books did you read?
calicuz · 56-60, M
@Ferise1

There's nothing wrong with believing in deities as long as it's peaceful, Gods of war are a no go in the 21st century.
Lostpoet · M
@Ferise1 I've read a lot of books on religion and philosophy. The Bible, Book of Mormon, The Book of the Dead, Book on Religions. Eastern and Western Philosophy.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@Lostpoet I read a lot on eastern philosophy, because it’s really interesting it has something to say. But Western religion., it’s just dogma. It’s like let me tell you how you ought to think.
Lostpoet · M
@Ferise1 True. I can agree with that but to me Philosophy and religion are two of the same things. There's a reason why we do the things we do.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@Lostpoet can you name a few interesting things you learnt from the Bible?
Lostpoet · M
@Ferise1 The story of Job, John the Baptist, Jesus. I admit some of the things I don't believe in.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@Lostpoet I can’t read it. I’m allergic. It’s so cringe.
Lostpoet · M
@Ferise1 Some of it is cringe and some of it is unchristian. I don't believe in slavery or that gay people go to hell. But I have the holy ghost or guardian deity or whatever you want to call it. Why would man have religion and a conscience.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@Lostpoet were you indoctrinated when you were little?
calicuz · 56-60, M
@Ferise1

Sorry, long read:

The Bible, without any religion attached to it, is actually a literary work of art. Reread it in that context and you might be able to the philosophy attached to it.
Chist's teachings, whether one believes he was a god or not, is the philosophy of taking care of our fellow man. Using today's labels he was a great humanitarian, and when read correctly, Christ only spoke dissent against the religious leaders of his people. The Bible actually contains a lot of wisdom and knowledge that can still be applied today, it's is the false religious doctrine that turns people away from reading it.
I am no longer a Christian, so my words are not some kind of "conversion tactic." 😅
calicuz · 56-60, M
@Lostpoet

Yes, the Bible without the philosophy or the psychology to go with it really useless, and only leaves us with false doctrine, a very important teaching of Christ.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@calicuz maybe saying you’re no longer a Christian is a conversion tactic🤪😂

No, but the peaceful philosophy is an eastern idea. It was stolen. I can’t read any of the Bible. It’s just absolutely cringe. I just cannot do it.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@calicuz oh come on crist didn’t teach anything he just basically said be nice which is an eastern concept
calicuz · 56-60, M
@Ferise1

Yes, I believe he was traveling the world for those missing 18 years, and brought more wisdom than religion to his people. It doesn't matter who speaks wisdom, if it is wise then it is good to apply that wisdom.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@calicuz but Christ said like three things… and the Bible is millions of paragraphs
calicuz · 56-60, M
@Ferise1

A few more than three, and yes, The Bible is in no way a complete work of the teachings of Christ, but we "work with what we've got" from him, and taking care of our fellow man is at the top of the "wisdom scale." Now combine that wisdom with Eastern philosophy and other non-religious wisdom and we're "cookin' with fire" going forward.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@calicuz nooooo… if the little wisdom he has comes from eastern wisdom, why are you listening to Jesus? Why aren’t you listening to the Chinese or the Indians?
And tell me what he said
Come on, love the neighbour
Turn the other cheek
That’s about it. If he said more important things we would’ve heard of them.
calicuz · 56-60, M
@Ferise1

If read in context, we will find that he only spoke dissent to the religious and political leaders of his people, who were misleading his people.
He also taught us how to speak the truth, unfortunately too much truth can get you murdered.
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@calicuz that’s it?
calicuz · 56-60, M
@Ferise1

What........ are you expecting me to read the entire New Testament to you?!!! 😅
Ferise1 · 46-50, M
@calicuz no just a few pertinent things that Jesus said

"For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and loses his soul?"

Wisdom: Don't seek, so much, the treasures of this world, the treasures of life are more important.

Poor man's wisdom: "You can't take it with you" 😎
