Is it right to teach kids to follow a religion before they’re old enough to decide for themselves?

yes it's right to educate children about religion. children don't need to be able to decide to learn things. they have to learn before they can decide.

@Maya15 So you're going to let them know that all religion is just a bunch of fairy stories made up by (mostly) men through the ages as a means of control and exploitation. Good for you.

@Maya15 I agree, they need to know about all religions like paganism, muslim, jewish, satanism, catholicism. Not really to force anyone to be religious but it's good knowing how people live and different cultures. Good on you.

@22Michelle Hehe yeah if you seen all the religious texts you know it's written by men. I mean like most of it reads like a man's wet dreams or power fantasies

@Maya15 If you're going to do that, you need to make the class as comprehensive as is reasonably possible. Every world religion must be included

@22Michelle there's no need for that. it's not helpful. also not true. you can't say that about ALL religion. you're not thinking clearly about what it really is.
Maya15 · F
@LordShadowfire yeah and that teaches not to take it too seriously. you know.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Maya15 Exactly. If one religion does appeal to them, they've at least learned to respect the rest of them.

@Maya15 Religion is something that's been dreamed up by somebody way back in history and has been used as a wsh of controlling and exploiting others. And if you need a religion to tell you to try and be a nice considerate person then you have serious issues that no fairy story is going to fix.
