Went to Church today.

I stood through some horrendous singing of some very cheesy songs and listened to an anaemic sermon all without yawning or falling asleep. I had closed my Bible and was ready to go home when I heard my name called. They wanted me to serve communion.

I didn't think they sang cheesy songs in church. My friend Kelly is a Christian and I'm sure she sings traditional Christian hymns when she goes to church.

@Crazychick It is becoming more and more common to sing more modern songs. Back in the 70s we called them choruses but with the advent of "Christian" radio it has become faddish to sing the songs you hear on the radio in church.

@hippyjoe1955 It's news to me. I haven't heard Kelly mention anything about it. I have heard her singing "Amazing Grace" outside church and that's the sort of thing I thought she would sing there.

@Crazychick There are some classic hymns sung as well and some classic hymns get words or lines added to them.

@hippyjoe1955 Do they? I can't imagine Kelly doing that.

@Crazychick Well one way to prove it is to go the Church and find out. Not all churches have gone to 'modern' song worship. Most evangelical/charismatic have. The one I went to this morning has as has many of its sister churches in that denomination.

@Crazychick Christian churches vary widely in traditions and practices and approaches to worship.
