Atenism was NOT the first monotheistic religion?

People say that when the pharoh Akhenaten said to only worship the Egyptian God Aten, it was the birth of monotheism. I have literally read world history text books that say this. But I think this is false. Monotheism is beliving there is only one God, but I don't think atenism made this claim, rather it just made the claim that Aten was the only God worth worshipping. I think monotheism started with with the Abrahamic faith or with Zoroastrianism.

Forgive me, i cant tell a short story 🙄😏

Akenhaten was originally known as Amehotep.
Egyptian rulers were meant to be the personification of their gods on earth .

So religion ruled . As it mostly always had .

But there became a power struggle between the clerics and priests .... and the King.

You see writing was considered sacred. It was handed down by the gods to their trusted priests.
The priests held the knowledge from the gods .

When the gods decided to hand over management of mankind to thier halfbreed offspring, they made them kings in their name - and the priests were supposed to work for the king.

But ....humans are greedy little fuckers 😏

In Egypt, more and more were the priests overstepping their powers and place .
This threatened the King, so eventually he cancelled all other gods, had their names erased of temples and instated his own - moved cities and bulit a new centre of Egypt ....out in the boondocks .

But you have to remember he was like 14th? 18th or something dynasty - he was prolly a spoilt little brat who wanted everything his own way .
He ASSUMED coz he was king - he knew everything.
He literally took himself to be god personified.

He wasnt
He didn't.

Egyptian economy crashed, people starved . He took all the monies from the cleric stores and wasted it on his new city while Egypt fell apart.

He ruled as Atum, the one amd only god , and took control off the clerics.

His monotheistic relgion was more about him, and singular control than any spiritual awakening.

Please excuse if i got or spelt names wrong -.its not easy remembering all this stuff, fascinating as it all is .
