How do Christian folk cope knowing that their family has been Christian for about 1500 years, but for milenia prior your family worshipped other gods

Ishtar, Isis and Osiris, Odin, Zeus, Gaia and many other ancient Gods and Goddesses. Imagine if present day Christians and Muslims worshiped not an angry, jealous male Sky-God, but an Earth Goddess. The world might be a better place for that.
