If religion is supposedly so liberating then why so many strict rules?

@Fullmetal So says a man who won't lift a finger to ease their suffering.
Fullmetal · 46-50, M
@hippyjoe1955 you know that for sure??
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Fullmetal Pretty obvious you don't. Those who are angry with God reject His Creation.
Fullmetal · 46-50, M
@hippyjoe1955 then go spend time with your imaginary friend!
originnone · 61-69, M
@Fullmetal Preach
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Fullmetal Which friend is that? You whine and do nothing. I sped my days helping homeless find productive work. I am don't what I can to improve this world. You?
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@hippyjoe1955 Nobody can be angry with God as there is no god.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Entwistle ONly in your tiny little world. In reality there is YAHWEH and HE designed and built you in your mother's womb.
originnone · 61-69, M
@Entwistle It seems silly, doesn't it? But I find myself fluctuating between being furious with god and feeling like an idiot for being furious at something I don't believe in.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@originnone It's like being angry at Santa Claus.
Fullmetal · 46-50, M
@Entwistle or the Easter Bunny
originnone · 61-69, M
@Entwistle or it's like questioning the existence of someone you just yelled at...both are equally ridiculous.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@originnone Well if I yelled at someone I tend to believe they exist tbh.
originnone · 61-69, M
@Entwistle I guess....But when I get done, I always turn to myself and tell myself how stupid I am for cursing at a god I don't believe in. I guess I want one "being" I can blame.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@originnone I was raised to believe in God and if I were in mortal danger I would probably cry out for help from God..our of conditioned behaviour.
originnone · 61-69, M
@Entwistle Our whole generation was kind of raised that way....even those of us from "godless" homes. The idea of a loving god who does nothing for the people in the picture above,.....I'll stop there.....
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@originnone God is just a concept,a crutch people use to help them in life.
Sad but true.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@originnone And you continue to do nothing for the poor and you continue to blame God for your short comings. Silly you.
Skinnygingesarah · 36-40, F
@originnone from what I understand of marx and Darwin I agree with their theories more than this supposed god
originnone · 61-69, M
@hippyjoe1955 You're quick to say I do nothing when your only exposure to me is a post where I question my beliefs. But, feel free to insult me, you wonderful christian, you.
originnone · 61-69, M
@Skinnygingesarah Well, I'm probably more of an advocate of secular humanism....the idea of doing good for other people....and yourself for that matter should be something we strive for whether we believe in god or not. I do respect where you're coming from.
Fullmetal · 46-50, M
@originnone he's a prick monday to Saturday, the repents on Sunday..
originnone · 61-69, M
@Fullmetal ...and maybe there's a point to that....maybe we are evil beings and it's all about recognizing/acknowledging that....That really is the whole idea of christianity. Otherwise a messiah wouldn't be needed.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@originnone Jesus said that he had only been sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. He didn't say one word about being a messiah for the Gentiles.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Diotrephes Which only proves your ignorance. Jesus also said He came to save the world.
