More religious crap

So when my mother passed away, my siblings wanted to do good in her name. It is a religious thing, meaning that you do something good and the deceased gets the credit 🤷‍♀️ Of course i don’t believe in any of that crap, but if my money is going to help the poor, then i am okay with it.

My brother started doing silly things too like payments to religious entities for someone to do religious activities on her behalf (like hajj), now that I call complete crap and I would never pay to have it done. I only contributed to REAL CHARITY. Helping poor areas is something that people will benefit from, but paying for someone to do hajj, i call that complete fraud and business!!!

My sister now messages me that a well that we were building has been completed.. of course she expected a religious answer from me as in; may allah accept or whatever crap people say in these situation… Me; not much of a response. All i could think of is that I only hope this well is not used to convert people to Islam, because I’ve seen YouTube videos whereby they do a charity in poor villages and then get the entire village to say the “shahadah” and then they be like; oh look at that!😮 This must be a great religion for an entire village to suddenly believe in it!!!😲

Messed up.. I want to get away from this demeaning way of doing good… If there really is a god, me, the agnostic one, must be the purest to him, because i really didn’t expect anything in return.. But the whole religious system is built on the carrot and stick approach anyway !
A God that allows this doesn't deserve our love and loyalty. Love you Potato ❤

Yes islam conforms to what people think is right.. which ends up being a Works salvation religion like so many others..

You do works for God.. Like charity works, religous ceremonies works, Friday prayers at the mosque and works of sin avoidance and then there is offering money to religous organizations and in islam going to fight jihad all around the world.. Work Work Work Work to pay for ones eatery into paradise.. Of course fat cat imams and other religous elites love the lifestyle that being a part of that elite affords them.. Social status and wealth...

Yes there is a God and no amount of works will ever pay for a place in eternity with Him.. It's like a man being offered a gift of a priceless gem pulling out a dollar bill and offering to buy the gem for a dollar.. It is an insult to the gift giver.. To think you could buy eternity with some pathetic works.. Not going to happen..

@Adstar Your point being?

@BittersweetPotato False religions conform to what mankind think is right.. transactional relationships are the standard when talking about human to human relations... God is not a man, nor does He think like a man.. Too many people fall into the trap of humanizing God..

As the Holy Bible reveals::
(Proverbs 14:12) "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death."

As a catholic my relatives have paid monastaries to pray for deceased relatives in perpetuity.

@JimboSaturn Yep the catholic religion is a works based religion for sure..

Sadly, I dont think you can escape this mindset anywhere, but it does seem more powerful and endemic where you live.
Canada is going to be such a mind opening experience for you sweetheart..
I'm so glad you can get away at last and be totally yourself.

No, that part of that system is carrot and stick.

People here in America will say, wear and tattoo any company logo or slogan on earth for the right price. Let others spend their money and pay their tributes as they see fit. Seems like judgment on everyone's part is what's eroded religion to begin with.
