Christians this is an easy yes or no question. I’m not asking for long winded explanations and apologia this is a simple yes or no question.

Is it moral for the christian god to have ordered the execution of a man picking up sticks on the sabbath? And yes as ridiculous as this story is it did happen in numbers 15:32-36.

It wasn't about picking up sticks it was about basic disrespect for God

@SStarfish Man was a non israelite. They literally found a random guy in the wilderness. Also what kind of “god” is offended by the act of picking up sticks? That is childish.
I don't think you have your story straight... God drowned 99% of the world and a whole army of Egyptians and all the Israelites in the wilderness and you want to complain about the lone guy killed for picking up sticks? . You know ultra religious jews wont even flip a switch or tear toilet paper on shabbat.. its a big deal.. you have no clue whatsoever.. @AshaKenyatta
AshaKenyatta · 61-69, M
@SStarfish Tell me where in the story does it say that the man was an Israelite.
Whatever he was he was part of the camp but not following the camp rules.. hence his sudden death.. . @AshaKenyatta

@SStarfish You made the assumption that he was apart of the camp/tribe without even giving the actual scripture and wanted to be an argumentative butthead instead of answering the actual question. Not only have you failed to provide scripture but now you’re backpedaling. Absolute failure. 🤦🏾‍♂️

@SStarfish It was willful rebellion against God who had made His will clear to the people..
AshaKenyatta · 61-69, M
@Adstar Only apologia says that it was rebellion, not the actual scriptures. The man was a non-Israelite. They literally found a rando in the wilderness. If he was an Israelite they would’ve identified him as such by his name and tribe/family, but they don’t.

@AshaKenyatta The actual scriptures reveal how closely God was with the Hebrews that escaped Egypt at the time.. This was not a p[person who did not know God existed.. God followed the Jews in a column of cloud during the day which turned into a column of fire during the night.. God caused Moses face to glow / shine so there was no Atheists among the Hebrews at the time.. Moses made it clear that on the 7th day NO WORK was to be done.. The man decided to willfully go out and collect fire wood on the 7th day.. It was an in your face act against Gods expressed will.. And the man paid for it with His life..

The penalty for sin is Death.. Not just then.. But also today.. And the only way sinners like you and me can avoid the death penalty is to believe the LORD and trust in the Atonement that He secured by His death on the cross.. He suffered death to pay the penalty for all who will believe Him and Trust Him.. You should want to be one of those who believe and trust before you reach your grave Asha..

I will also add that the Laws of the first covenant was between the Hebrews and God.. So the sabbath day at the time was only a law upon the Hebrew people.. So your statement about the man not being a Hebrew is not supported by scripture..
AshaKenyatta · 61-69, M
@Adstar [False] All you did was make a case that the man was Hebrew despite not actually proving that he was, in the most long winded way possible. One thing that’s not often talked about is that no matter where you go someone is somewhere is trying to force their religious views on you? What they did is absolutely no different, and you can see that throughout the ot. These people kidnapped their own women for breeding stock and you think they wouldn’t execute a rando for not knowing their arbitrary laws? Again I remind you in books exodus through judges they are very VERY specific when it comes to the who offends who and will include nearly their entire bloodline. You asserting that he was possibly Hebrew is speculative at best and not biblical. But what’s really telling is the lengths you would go to being this disingenuous. Like you could actually read this story and not see the red flags in it and still defend childish acts.

@AshaKenyatta In the scriptures God directly ordered the man to be executed..

(Numbers 15:32-36) "¶ And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day. {33} And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation. {34} And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him. {35} And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. {36} And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses."

So if you have a problem with the will of God you can take it up with Him directly in prayer or after you die, on the day of judgement..

That's not what this topic is about.. It is about a specific man and God and the mans actions and Gods reaction.. And no one can force anyone else to believe anything.. People can and do decide to either believe or disbelieve in God and scriptures..

And again you have no proof that this man was not a Hebrew.. And i point to the fact that the LAWs given by God where part of the agreement between God and the Hebrew people which originated when God and Abraham established their agreement many years before the times of Moses..

And i am totally genuine with everything i have responded to you with in this exchange.. You can take it or leave it as you wish.. God will shall be done irrespective of anyone's decision to embrace His will or rebel against His will..

@Adstar I can’t believe that you wrote this and didn’t see anything wrong this. Other than taking what I said out context that is to be expected to but for you to actually write this…
Adstar · 56-60, M
@AshaKenyatta Nope you have made it clear in a lot of your posts your anti Christ mindset.. You have rejected the Word of God and now you try to justify your rejection because of your disagreement with God and what He wills and what He has done.. This is very simple.. you asked a question, but it was not really a question. you meant it as a justification for yourself and your decision.. But your position is unjustified and that will be made as clear as day on the day of judgement when God will judge you for your response to His WORD..

Your reaction to my response to your question is your problem not mine.. I have accepted the Word of God and trust in the wisdom and righteousness of the God of Abraham.. And i have made the correct decision.. You on the other hand have condemned yourself by rejecting Gods will..
AshaKenyatta · 61-69, M
@Adstar Spoken like a true death cult member, but can you really help it? It’s your nature. I’m anti delusion. You worship a distortion not the true teachings of christ. You don’t even know what it is you truly worship… We have to live with you people, I have to deal with the consequences of your ilk’s corruption of true morality, destroying of tradition and cultures worldwide. You’re absolutely no different, i’ve seen the way you’ve conducted yourself over the years, there is no salvation for someone like you. The thinly veiled racism, the venom you speak unto others. Absolute hypocrite.
Adstar · 56-60, M
@AshaKenyatta Just a series of rants in your last post Asha no supporting facts at all.. Just like water off a ducks back are your personal insults because they are not truth so they have no effect..

May you be forgiven. 🤗
AshaKenyatta · 61-69, M
@Adstar These aren’t insults, just observations. Well more like a doctor spotting a cancer within the body, and best believe what I see is malignant. Tell me why is it that you have such contempt for other abrahamic faiths while pretending to follow them.
Adstar · 56-60, M
@AshaKenyatta Your ability to make accurate observations is a fail..

I only follow the LORD Jesus..

I hate false representations of the will of God.. Why? because they lead people away from the truth that would save them from the eternal lake of fire.. I love my fellow human beings and wish all of them to be saved.. I would like them to no longer be in a state of deception and hear the true will of God so that at lest they have the opportunity to be saved.. And there are many people who think they are following the will of the God of Abraham but have been given a twisted version of His will.. So i value the opportunity to let them at least hear the truth before they die..
AshaKenyatta · 61-69, M
@Adstar Actually I’m pretty spot on. For you this is more of an ego thing, a sense of superiority. You pretend to have full understanding of other cultures and practices but paint them under one category, it’s never a broad spectrum for you. It was never about saving souls, it’s about being “right” or having the last word in. You don’t put yourself in others shoes. All smoke no nuance.

Nope i do not claim superiority.. It's just when the conviction of the Holy Spirit came i was not smart enough to philosophies my way of escape.. Conviction Hit and it stuck on me..

And yes i believe i am right because i believe Jesus was right.. I stick to His teachings and share them and i know i will be right in what i say.. Once a person gives up on the Idol god they want God to be and becomes open to accepting the God that is.. Then God can move them to be in a right relationship with Him..

I have been in my own shoes before i was saved and i have observed a lot of other people trapped in their shoes over the years and i can count on one hand the people who the truth of God could not Redeem...

Yes God can Redeem you Asha the door is not closed for you yet..

@AshaKenyatta You missed it the moment you declared this to be a "simple yes or no" type of question and complicated it more by declaring it was "the christian god". And all that was before you brought up "saving souls".

The Sabbath was given to the Jews, the instructions as to how to keep it was given to the Jews, as well as all the finer details that were passed down and don't actually appear in your bible.
The guy knew what he was doing was forbidden. Before the death penalty could be enforced someone had to remind him that he was subject to execution, he had to acknowledge that, and keep doing what he was doing and there had to be witnesses who heard him acknowledge that and keep picking up sticks. So no, he wasn't just executed because he forgot he wasn't supposed to be picking up sticks.
According to one midrash he basically volunteered to be executed to prove to the rest of the crowd how serious G-d was about his instructions.

"Saving souls" isn't a Jewish concept, you're taking bits and pieces of one religion and trying to mix them with bits and pieces of a different religion. As bad as I hate to split hairs and refer to G-d as "Christian" or "Jewish" you can't really blame the "christian god" for this.
