Jesus said good works and deeds will never get you to heaven. Salvation cannot be earned. It is a gift from God.
Jesus already loves you. You don't have to earn your way to heaven. Ever! What great news! You don't have to spend your whole life trying to earn God's favor!
Jesus emphasized in His Word, that good works are only counted AFTER one has been saved. One is not benefited or identified by God's grace, until he/she invites Jesus into their heart and life as their personal Savior. The most important point being, that our sins keep us separated from God the Father...UNTIL, we invite him into our hearts and lives and ask him to be our Savior, and to forgive us of our sins, and He promises to do so. That means our sins no longer separate us from God and BECAUSE of God's grace (unearned favor), the Bible says when God the Father looks at us, He only sees us as "righteousness" BECAUSE of Jesus' WORK on the cross, who stood in our place, and paid for our sins. We are no longer condemned by those sins, who kept us separated from God.
That does not mean we will not sin anymore, because as long as we are in this flesh, we will, but the key is, the grace of God still covers our sins, even future sins. Many people make the mistake of thinking "Oh good, then I can just sin away and it won't matter because I'm covered by the blood of Jesus. But sorry, it doesn't work that way. God cannot be fooled or mocked. He already knows our heart, its motives, and it's sincerity.
When you love someone, you don't want to hurt them, take advantage of them, or abuse their love for us. We shall still reap what we sow, meaning the consequences of our sin will disrupt our fellowship with God, but because of God's grace, it will never tear us away from God. He said, "No man shall pluck you out of my hand! A Believer will not want to sin against God, nor abuse His grace or try to take advantage of him. We can lose REWARDS, as believers, but NEVER our salvation. When one is saved, they are sealed by the Holy Spirit until they meet Jesus face-to-face in heaven. The Holy Spirit himself, IS that Seal, that shows we are now a member of the family of God. That seal, also means a FINISHED transaction has taken place, and cannot be reversed. God is not a liar. He keeps his promises.
