that the people who follow a religion which promotes love and compassion can't extend their love and understanding to anyone who doesn't believe as they do?
Even when the conversation is rational and calm, not believing in their way of life is seen as a threat and met with anger.
I was just blocked before I could even see what "harassment" I was being accused of...
Surely, this must be the groundwork of "religious war."
I don't practice any religion, and I'm perfectly willing to love, accept and let people live with whatever beliefs they wish to practice. Yet the the religious, who are so full of love for their fellow man, can't accept anyone who doesn't believe what they do.
@whowasthatmaskedmanExactly. It's a private club. And if you're not in agreement with and aren't willing to follow the doctrine, you can't be a member.
@PhoenixPhail You don't know for certain though. Either way there's not much to what you're trying to say because religion doesn't define people's characters, and just because some or all religious people are flawed it does not make the religion itself flawed.
@chrisCA Sorry, gotta call this out: anyone who claims to be christian IS a christian because we have no way of actually making that determination of who is TRUE christian. There are too many denominations and sub sects all claiming to be the One.
@PhoenixPhail I've been following the teachings of "Abraham" for quite some time. I've found more truth and consolation in the words of Abraham-Hicks than in any religious teaching. And I've looked at a lot of it.
For me, this entire clip is wonderful. And in answer to what the fundamentalists need for me to believe, and why, I invite you to listen to (9:46) to (11:25). You can go right to that segment. This is MY truth about religion. It may be yours, as well. If it isn't, that's perfectly fine with me, unlike how I'm sure it wouldn't be to the Christian fundamentalists.
The ones that get me are some of the bible literalists. ( SOME , not all). But those 'some' blow me away with their perception and attitude. Its so narrow, thay cant see themselves or how they are acting .
Not that im princ2ss peach either But then im not spruking cannonised text thinking that bible quotes somehow negate the nasty sarcasm they are used with, as i dont think im fully enlightened beyond reproof either.
To me, they seem to be devoid of that 'spiritual peace' that comes with faith. Their "faith" makes them angry - and i just dont see how that works .🤷♀️

Well if you start with the premise religions are man made and designed to control behavior and create social cohesion then things make a little more sense
@Ferise1 It's frightening people are so deeply indoctrinated into believing anything that completely takes over their lives. Any system which operates on the basis of rewards and punishments, is put and kept in place for the purpose of control. Once people are locked into that system, there's no way out for them. It's very sad, to say the least.
